Relevate was contracted by Bellarive to create three versions of a new site concept for the band. Web, mobile, and blog. It’s hard to really describe this latest project. I guess you have to really go to the site and check it out. Many months of work and planning went into this one and we are very honored to be able to work beside such a great band. They have a great heart for worship and a refreshing sound that is quite unique. You can listen and purchase their music on iTunes or Amazon.

Many challenges were presented to us to launch a unique site with a full HD video background with a website on top that was simple and easy to use. All at the same time allowing for smooth playback on older PC/Mac computers. Relevate created a mobile version of the site that is streamlined and made just for the mobile user. We also created a blog for the band that is linked to the main site. Allowing them to update the site and the blog at the same time, even from an iPhone or iPad. The blog is located at www.bellarive.com/blog

Check out the site on your computer and mobile device at www.bellarive.com

I was blessed this past weekend to have a project in Prattsville, AL for Elite Multimedia taking some stills and filming a promo video on the portable church system they have developed. The system is being used by Centerpoint Church in a hotel conference center every weekend. This church has experienced tremendous growth in the past year now at over 1000 during the weekend, after being there – I can really see why. First of all the system that Elite has created and engineered is one of the best systems I have heard. The beauty of this setup is it sounds great, looks great, and can easily be setup by volunteers in a short amount of time.

The room sound was balanced and not overpowering at all. It was just right. The worship team was amazing and God’s presence was evident. I even got to witness baptisms in the service. Senior Pastor, John Schmidt brought encouragement and the Word. I will be posting pictures and video from the weekend soon.

Shelley Green – Worship Leader

I have seen the following as a growing trend in ministry (and some corporate clients) – don’t let it happen to you!

Churches (and a lot of companies) get caught up in the hype of social media without thinking through a long-term plan. Usually happens like this… Someone on staff will get excited, get a Twitter account or start a Facebook fan page, and then after a while – it gets neglected. Once the hype of getting the first followers wears off, the newly created social media accounts become dormant & neglected communication channels.

In another example, you’ll find an ambitious staff member who has taken the initiative for their church. They have started generating content on multiple social networks and are getting a great response. What happens next is usually someone higher up on the food chain will find out about it and want to control it. Or shut it down. Or turn it into an info dump, clogged with redundant church advertisements and announcements. Once that happens, social media fails to serve it’s purpose and be social.

The organizations/ministries who use social media the best are the ones who are responsive. They pay attention to search.twitter.com. They have Google alerts set up. They take that information and use it to interact with the people who go to their church or are interested in their organization.

Bottom line – make sure you have a plan and understand what exactly social media can do for you and take the time to properly use it.You can take 10 minutes a day and schedule out your social media update for the week. Use tools like Tweetdeck to search for terms related to your church and interact for five minutes a day with people. Start a fan page and comment for 30 minutes to the people who take the time to post.
